My journey into Counselling started when I worked in a primary school as a Teaching Assistant. I was asked to offer Draw and Talk therapy to a pupil and I loved how such a simple intervention opened communication and provided an explanation of feelings for the child.

I decided to train as a Counsellor and within this, began a placement working with adults who have been affected by drug and alcohol misuse. Alongside my training, I then moved into Secondary Education where I quickly became the Mental Health Coordinator of a large High School in Wakefield. I loved this role and I learnt so much from the amazing children I worked with! Eventually I decided to set up my own private practice where I could support both adults and children.

I am an integrative therapist which means I do not believe there is one approach that suits everybody in the therapy room. It means I am flexible and happy to adapt our sessions depending on what you need as an individual.

I have a Higher Education Certificate and Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I studied on a relational, BACP accredited course at Leeds Beckett University. Alongside this, I am a qualified Nurture Practitioner and have recently completed advanced Designated Safeguarding Lead training. I am a member of the BACP.

You have the opportunity to take advantage of the parklands of Nostell Priory if sitting in a therapy room does not feel right for you. Outdoor therapy is still Counselling, but with the added benefit of enjoying a gentle stroll at the same time or even finding a quiet bench to sit on and enjoy the nature surrounding you whilst we talk together.
